Volunteer Policy

    The California legislature passed a law in response to the murder of a Sacramento high school girl by a substitute custodian with a history of violent crime to tighten up procedures for school site access in California schools. The attached forms must be completed for every parent volunteer or field trip driver and renewed each new school year.

    Since Shasta relies on parent volunteers to support our educational program, the Worker Agreement/Affidavit Affirming No Criminal Record form (A) and the Volunteer Information form (D) will need to be completed. In addition, regularly scheduled parent volunteers will need a tuberculosis clearance ** on file. Please return the forms to the teacher in whose room you volunteer.

    Each teacher has a sample Agreement - Volunteer Worker form for your reference, should you need it. All parent volunteers will need to have completed forms on file before the end of September. This is a potentially intrusive requirement but it helps to ensure student safety and is worth the time invested. Thank you for your cooperation.

**Tuberculosis (TB) clearance can be obtained through the Butte County Health Department. Call 891-2731 to make an appointment between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the work week. The scratch test will need to be read 3 days after the initial appointment.
